I am not really sure on these days....But for me I only celebrate the day he got his enlightment. But most people celebrate the day he got out of the stone.

I don't know where or how they make up these days. Don't ask me. I saw some marking on one of those chinese calendar, way back then. I thought all those buddha and jesus and all those super beings has a holiday of their own, and nobody really celebrate Monkey King's day. So I want to be the first to celebrate it. But I am probably not. biggrin.gif

**These days are in the lunar calendar not western. **

The 16th of 1st month: He kicked off the Elixir-Urn and the fire dropped into the Mortal World which cause burning and extreme high heat, causing a lot of death. So on this day, he had to come to the Mortal World to do salvaging task.

The 16th of 8th month: The day he got his enlightment

The 25 of 7th month or 12 of 10th month: either day is consider as the day when he "pop-out" from the stone.

Hmm... I am not very familiar with these.

All I can tell you to do is to look them up on a search engine, and you might find them all. smile.gif

I think that in 2009

the 16th of 1st month = the 10th of February
the 25 of 7th month = the 15th-16th of August
the 16th of 8th month = the 4th of September
the 12th of 10th month = the 28th of October

(please verify it, I am not sure)

16th of 1st month = February 10,2009
25th of 7th month = September 13, 2009
16th of 8th month = October 4, 2009
12th of 10th month = November 28, 2009

I think you got some errors. I look at my 2009 chinese calendar. It said different than what you get. Hmmm... Is my calendar right? I am losing my mind. ahhhhh ^___^

Thank you, NK!
Of course you are right.

hm.... lunar and chinese calendars are not the same... and I am unable to count correctly...
...is there an additional month in the Chinese calendar, without a number? otherwise it could be strange: lunar months could be longer than calendar months...

**i'm away to study numbers and names of the months biggrin.gif**

Lunar and Chinese Calendar are the same. There are 2 type of calendars, the western Solar one and the Lunar one. The Chinese along with many other Asian countries uses the Lunar calendar. I am used to calling it the chinese calendar, that's all.

A sample 2009 lunar calendar:
http://www.herongyang.com/2009/2009_chines...endar_big5.html

It's hard to tell from this calendar. The date with number is the Solar calendar and the one that is written in Chinese characters are the Lunar calendar.

Jan 26 is the beginning of 2009 Lunar calendar, also Chinese New Year.
February 25 is the first day of the second month.
March 27 is the first day of the third month...
April 25 is the fourth month
May 24 is the fifth month
June 23 is the extra month .. hmmmmm.....
July 22 is the sixth month
August 20 is the seventh month
September 19 is the eight month
October 18 is the ninth month
November 17 is the tenth month
December 16 is the eleventh month

I think that solve your problem, the extra month. Do you know I learn how to write numbers in chinese because I look at the calendar? ^____^

Monkey King Day (the 16th of 8th lunar month) is fairly easy to figure out for the Western calendar since it always falls the day after the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival.

the 16th of 1st month = the 1st of March - MK kicked off the Elixir-Urn
the 25 of 7th month = the 3d of September - ?? His Birthday
the 16th of 8th month = the 23th of September -His Enlightenment
the 12th of 10th month = the 17th of November - ??His Birthday

calendar

春節 February 14 is the Chinese New Year 2010
二月 March 16 is first day of the second month.
三月 April 14 is the first day of the third month...
四月 May 14 is the fourth month
五月 June 12 is the fifth month
六月 July 12 is the sixth month
七月August 10 is the seventh month
(八月?)白露September 8 is the eight month
(九月?)寒露October 8 is the ninth month
十月November 6 is the tenth month
冬月December 6 is the eleventh month
臘月January 4 is the twelfth month

but I am not too sure... I'll check it more carefully later.
