In order to motivate a child, I always have to alter the terms of tasks, adding my son's favorite characters or composing a situations that may be of interest to the child.

Example 1.

In a Buddhist temple, Tang San Zang and his disciples was offered a room with electric lighting :-) and even with the 3-lights. Evening. Darkness. It turned out that the switches are not in their room but in the entrance to the temple, and there is no inscription of which switch is needed to light which bulb.. Tang San Zang ordered Zhu Ba Jie to mark the switches. Zhu Ba Jie said: "I do not want to walk 3 times from the front door to our room and back!" Sun Wu Kong laughed "Idiot! If you think well, then you will understand how this can be done by returning to our room only 1 time! Go to the switches and think! But I will not let you enter this room more than 1 time, until you will correctly sign all the switches. If you will not sign, you will sleep on the floor outside the door!" "Elder brother, this is impossible! Zhu Ba Jie needs 2 times to return, rather than 1!" - said Sha Wu Jing. "It may not even need any magic to use, just a little thought" - objected Sun Wu Kong.

Please help Zhu Ba Jie to comply with the demands of Sun Wu Kong.

I have a question. What did San Zang tell Ba Jie to do? I don't get what you mean by "sign".

hm, hard question...
...to sign, to subscribe, to undersign, to underwrite, to label, to mark...
--------------------
1st bulb was under the table, San Zang needed it during having supper, he told Ba Jie to write "一" on the appropriate switch.
2nd bulb was under the San Zang's corner and he needed it to writing "Journey to the West in the Great Tang Dynasty ", so he told Ba Jie to write "二" on the appropriate switch.
3d bulb was under the Wukong's corner, so San Zang told Ba Jie to write "危" on the appropriate switch to prevent fortuitous switching on. It is dangerous to unexpectedly waken Wukong from sleep.

so... sign mean "to label; to mark" .. hmmm... okay.

So.. San Zang wants Ba Jie to mark all the light switches and Wu Kong told him to do this by returning to the room one time. Right?

Can he told them when the light is on a certain place, someone would scream out like, "one" "two" and "危" then he'd mark them accordingly?

Your answer is good... I need to add some conditions into my riddle to suppress answers with help...

Solution

Ba Jie must turn one switch on, wait some time, then turn it off and turn another switch on, than go to the room quickly and touch the nonluminous bulbs - the hot one was turned on the first, the luminous one was turned on the second, the residual (cold nonluminous) bulb was not turned on. Now he will be able to mark all switches.

ngokhong/emo-145.gif NK does not understand me **crying**

Ba Jie return to the room 1 time only. **English, i hate you!**

Ba Jie turn one switch on, wait some time (about 30 min, for example), then turn it off (he stay near switches all this time)
Ba Jie turn another switch on
Ba Jie go to the room quickly (the only time he return to the room) - there he make some check -
touch the nonluminous bulbs - the hot one was turned on the first, the luminous one was turned on the second, the residual (cold nonluminous) bulb was not turned on
Now Ba Jie go to the switches and mark them

----------------------------------------------------------------
** zeiva you must study English! right now!**

I thought he could only come 1 time to the room and never leave again. hehehe... my bad. Without magic how can a person do that? It stump me... hehehe... If he can use magic on the other hand, he can see which light is turn on by using his magic to create a circle thing that could see from a far. I don't know how to explain it in english. hehehehe... English is so hard. ^___^

Ba Jie never used this thing in a book, but in JTTW 1 with Dicky he used it in the 2nd episode.
Subs from mfgcortez: "Tian Peng decided to use the Mysterious Light Magic to spy on Chang Er."

Riddle 2

Ba Jie was angry at Wu Kong due to the fact that he was being turned out to sleep in the corridor. He complained to San Zang. San Zang started to blame Monkey King, accusing him of scorning Ba Jie. Wu Kong replied that he was not guilty, but Ba Jie's stupidity was the culprit, Ba Jie can not perform a simple task. Then San Zang decided to give the task to Wu Kong, and if he can not perform the task, to send Wu Kong himself to sleep outside the door.
San Zang took 2 cords from his pocket and said: "Each of these cords can be burned up during 1 hour. But they burn unevenly, that is, if you cut any cord to parts which has equal length, these parts can be burned during different intervals. Measure off exactly 90 minutes using only these cords. You are allowed to use magic only for firing."
"It's that simple!" - laughed Sun Wu Kong. And he fulfilled the task.

How did he do it?
